Principal

Dear Fremont Elementary School Families and Community,

I am truly excited to continue my journey with you as the new Principal of Fremont Elementary School. With over 15 years of experience in education, I bring a deep commitment to student growth, equity, and community partnership. Before becoming Principal of Fremont, I served in a variety of educational roles and settings, including teaching pre-school and students in grades K-12, leading as a High School Assistant Principal and Principal, and leading as a K-8 Assistant Principal. With my comprehensive experience teaching and leading students in every grade level in preschool through twelfth grade, I have a deep understanding of the learner continuum. Having had the privilege of serving as Fremont's Assistant Principal during the 2024-2025 school year, I am deeply grateful for the relationships we’ve built and the vibrant spirit that makes our school so special. I am eager to keep the momentum going—fostering a positive, inclusive, and inspiring environment where every student, family, and staff member feels valued and empowered to succeed.

I look forward to continuing to work with the incredible staff, students, and community at Fremont. I believe in collaboratively developing a culture of continuous improvement and belonging. I am excited to carry forward a proud legacy of instructional excellence and an unwavering commitment to creating extraordinary student experiences. With a deep dedication to fostering a strong sense of student belonging, my engagement as a leader has always focused on a strong belief in all students, with a strong commitment to leading a safe, supportive, engaging, and inclusive environment where all students can thrive.

Looking ahead, our focus for the 25-26 school year prioritizes a master schedule that reflects intentional collaboration time for teachers. We have expanded professional learning opportunities for our staff to grow their skills, equipping them to share best practices and create coherence across classrooms. We embrace shared leadership through collaborative structures, empowering all staff to contribute to our school’s success. We dedicate time to targeted student interventions, supporting Early Literacy and Foundational Skills. Valuing the vital role of paras, we adjusted schedules to maximize their presence in classrooms. These shifts will transform our team dynamics and promote student leadership and belonging. Fremont is committed to boosting student engagement by strengthening peer connections and community and closely monitoring academic progress to drive instruction and responsiveness. Today and every day, we will provide a quality education as “One School, One Team” that focuses on “Every Child, Every Day”.

Outside of school, I fill my cup by spending time with loved ones- friends, family, and my dog Timber. I try to keep up with my many hobbies and interests by exploring the outdoors, hiking, camping, paddling, golfing, playing pickleball, making art, cooking, and traveling.

Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. I look forward to leading Fremont Elementary with the same dedication and enthusiasm as we embrace new opportunities and continue to grow as a community. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, ideas, or just to connect with me.

In the Spirit of Student Success,

Crystal Johnson
